MOSCOW, Sep 21 (PRIME) -- Warsaw plans to stop buying Russian natural gas in 2022, Bloomberg reported on Thursday citing Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski.
Waszczykowski told Bloomberg that the plan of Poland is to stop importing Russian gas in 2022 when the current gas supply contract with gas giant Gazprom expires. Poland is ready to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from other countries, including the U.S., and it is now discussing commercial conditions of a deal with the U.S.’ LNG exporters, he said.
In 2016, Gazprom raised gas exports to Poland 24.2% on the year to 11.1 billion cubic meters.
